- I had a mortgage inspection before my house closed escrow. Is this the same as a land survey?
A mortgage inspection confirms the location of buildings and improvements on a property.
It is not considered a “true” land survey, unless it is conducted by a licensed
surveyor who calculates property corners and lines. If you need to know the actual
corners and lines of your lot, you’ll need a boundary survey. It’s not wise to construct
a fence or make other improvements based on a mortgage inspection map.
